About Panevėžys Regional Development Council
Panevėžys Region – Panevėžys county, which includes Municipalities of Panevėžys City, Biržai District, Kupiškis District, Panevėžys District, Pasvalys District and Rokiškis District.
Panevėžys Regional Development Council (hereinafter – the Council) was established in 2020 November 16 by all six Municipalities.
The Council is a non-profit public legal entity with limited civil liability, which in its activities is guided by provisions of the Council, the Civil Code, the Law on Regional Development and other legal acts of the Republic of Lithuania.
The Council is responsible for implementing national regional policy in the Panevėžys region.
Goals of the Council’s acitivities:
- to plan and coordinate the implementation of national regional policy in the Panevėžys Region and to implement measures to promote regional development jointly with other Regional Development Councils, municipal institutions and bodies;
- to promote the social and economic development of the Panevėžys Region, the sustainable development of urbanised territories, the reduction of social and economic disparities between the Panevėžys Region and other regions, and the reduction of these disparities between municipalities of the Panevėžys Region;
- to promote cooperation between municipalities in order to increase the efficiency of the development of functional zones and the organisation of public services;
- to represent the Panevėžys Region.
